Your funnel might look fine on the surface while leaking revenue at every step. These are the seven mistakes I find most often in funnel audits.
Mistakes 1–3: Before the click
Mistake one: driving traffic to your homepage instead of a dedicated landing page. Homepages are built for everyone, which means they convert no one.
Mistake two: a weak or generic offer. 'Contact us' is not an offer. Mistake three: message mismatch — when your ad promises one thing and your landing page opens with another, trust dies instantly.
Mistakes 4–5: On the page
Mistake four: asking for too much too soon. Every extra form field costs conversions; ask only what you need to start the conversation.
Mistake five: no proof. Claims without evidence are noise. Testimonials, numbers, and case studies belong next to every call-to-action, not buried on a separate page.
Mistakes 6–7: After the conversion
Mistake six: no follow-up sequence. Most leads aren't ready to buy today — without automated nurture, you hand them to whichever competitor stays in touch.
Mistake seven: not measuring the steps. If you only track final sales, you can't see which stage of the funnel is broken. Instrument every step, and the fix usually becomes obvious.
